DIY Alexander Technique taster
The best way to let your body de-stress and reduce aches is to lie in the semi supine position for just 10 minutes every day, longer if you wish
- Lie down on a fairly firm surface like a mat or rug on the floor with a couple of paperback books under your head to raise it (try 4-5 cm high).
- Bend your knees with your feet flat on the floor about shoulder width apart.
- Take some time to allow yourself to settle in this position. Think of your body melting and weight dropping into the floor
- Give attention to letting go of some tension in your neck, then shoulders, then your back including the pelvis.
This guide is very simplified, so get practical advice and guidance from a qualified teacher.
