How to ease your back

DIY Alexander Technique taster

The best way to let your body de-stress and reduce aches is to lie in the semi supine position for just 10 minutes every day, longer if you wish

.

  • Lie down on a fairly firm surface like a mat or rug on the floor with a couple of paperback books under your head to raise it (try 4-5 cm high).
  • Bend your knees with your feet flat on the floor about shoulder width apart.
  • Take some time to allow yourself to settle in this position. Think of your body melting and weight dropping into the floor
  • Give attention to letting go of some tension in your neck, then shoulders, then your back including the pelvis.
