Is “over thinking” or thoughts playing on your mind like an old record player?
Words, talk and sentences just go round and round in the brain and you feel you are going nowhere. This may be what is meant when we say we are “over-thinking” or ruminating, a feature of anxiety.
When you feel stuck or like you are going round in circles, there are many ways you can change this through counselling – not just talking.
Play can be a great way to get past or underneath the words. We might use sand tray and natural objects and figures and toy sized models. There are other “creative apporaches” in the counselling room too, which stimulate the other side of the brain!
Your therapist may suggest different resources. Why not be the first to suggest you play and use a creative approach in your session?
