New to counselling?

Is your next step choosing a therapist?

I want our meeting to feel comfortable and relaxed.       Your first appointment is a ‘getting to know’ session.

It is also a mini taste of counselling therapy. You can expect to feel listened to with real interest and warmth, and respect for your confidentiality.

Initially you may simply describe your predicament, and why you are looking for a therapist. You may soon find yourself safe enough to explore your hopes and dreams, and touch your deepest feelings, and be genuinely witnessed.

As a welcome to my Worthing Practice, I can offer a discount to those on low income, for every session.  But, please let me know you need a discount.

Usual fee £47 payable by BANK TRANSFER IN ADVANCE PLEASE

Is “over thinking” or thoughts playing on your mind like an old record player?

Words, talk and sentences just go round and round in the brain and you feel you are going nowhere.  This may be what is meant when we say we are “over-thinking”  or ruminating, a feature of anxiety.  We also know that we tend to over use the left side of our brain which is geared to words and getting results and goal seeking.

When you feel stuck or like you are going round in circles, there are many ways you can change this through counselling – we express non-verbally, and you naturally do this all the time. .

Play  can be a great way to get past or underneath the words.   We might use sand tray and natural objects and figures and miniature models.  There are other “creative apporaches” in the counselling room too, which stimulate the other side of the brain!

Please let me know if you are attracted to using a creative approach.

Students

Need counselling during your course?

Hello and welcome to those who have signed on to study counselling and psychotherapy.  Whether you have been the client in therapy, or need to explore this experience, this is a requirement of many courses.  Furthermore, you may need to find a therapist like myself, with the “accreditation” status from BACP or other organisation.

You can find my practice near the seafront in Worthing centre.  A trial session costs £20, and the ongoing fee for students is £30.

The lower fee is also available to other students.
